Olive wood Lord’s Supper sets (communion)
If you thought that olive wood carvings were only statuettes of the Nativity or engravings of biblical scenes, I have a surprise for you. Christian artisans in Israel also create olive wood sets to celebrate the Lord’s Supper.
Made with aged olive wood, they are intended as gifts of faith for all ages and churches regardless of denomination, some are more ornate and finely decorated with engravings of “Do this in remembrance of Me” illustrating the command of the Lord. Beautifully prepared for faith use, with the characteristic olive wood grain enhancement, they can be placed anywhere and shall harmonize with the surrounding elements.
For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
(1 Corinthians 11:23-25)
Apart from the reliquary where the bread is kept, the cup and the plate can also be engraved with small reminders that will undoubtedly brighten the life of the person who receives it. All this thought to give more devotion and meaning as you partake of this most important communion.
