Hand crafted olive wood biblical ornaments. Jesus on the boat, Joseph and Mary flight from Egypt. Jesus washing feet, Last Supper. Made by Christian family business in Bethlehem.

The olive tree was an extremely significant one in Bible days. This sturdy tree represented resilience, divine blessing, and prosperity as even after the trunk is cut down, new shoots spring from it, ensuring its continued existence. It can be considered one of the most valuable trees in Israel’s history with a beautiful blend of useful wood and olive fruits yielding the versatile and beneficial olive oil.

In Deuteronomy 8:8, the olive tree is a prominent feature in the Promised Land of Canaan, “a land with wheat and barley, vines and fig trees, pomegranates, olive oil and honey.” In Jothma’s appeal to Shechem’s citizens, he also referenced the value of the olive tree in his analogy. Judges 9:8-9, “ One day the trees went out to anoint a king for themselves. They said to the olive tree, ‘Be our king.’ But the olive tree answered, ‘Should I give up my oil, by which both gods and humans are honored, to hold sway over the trees?’”

The strength, beauty, and durability of the olive wood also come to the fore in 1 Kings 6:23, “For the inner sanctuary he made a pair of cherubim out of olive wood, each ten cubits high.”  Here we see that the cherubim in Solomon’s temple, mighty angels of God, were fashioned from olive wood. The fact that this wood is hard but beautifully grained makes it ideal for the manufacture of Christian ornaments, including olive wood carvings and olive wood figures.

In Psalm 52:8, we read, “But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God…” Zak’s Jerusalem Gifts seek to blend the strength, durability, and divine blessing of olive wood into a wide array of olive wood carvings and olive wood figures representing prosperity and value. With these Christian ornaments made from the resilient olive wood, you can reflect fruitful companionship with God, as you flourish like the olive tree.
