Biblical Trumpet and Jesus

Trumpets in the Bible were generally used for grand pronouncements and pre-empted great news. As we read the story of the fall of Jericho, we see that those marching around the walls daily blew trumpets, which pre-empted the fall.

In Revelation, we are introduced to the seven (7) trumpets that will herald the Second Coming of Jesus. Each trumpet pronounces a different judgment upon the earth, all of which must be fulfilled before Jesus takes his place as King of the universe and victor extraordinaire.

The first six trumpets bring devastation to the earth, the sea and bodies of water, the sun, moon and stars, the crops and food kind and finally the people themselves where 1/3 of the earth’s population will die. However, the 7th trumpet announces the eternal reign of Christ and his Kingdom.

We read in 1st Thessalonians that the Lord himself will descend from heaven with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God. This will be the final grand pronouncement as Jesus returns to claim his own, heralded by the voice of God.

The judgment will have set by then, and everyone will receive their reward according to their works. It is prudent to live one’s life in anticipation of this final trumpet.

For years, the believers in Christianity have been awaiting Jesus’ second coming – a momentous occasion that is rumored to be heralded by the playing of the last trumpet.
