Authentic byzantine coin from 950 A.D set in a 925 sterling silver round frame pendant.
For more than 100 years, the minting of Follis denomination Byzantine coins was dominated with purely religious Christian motifs which included included this Jesus Christ coin.
The front of this coin has an image of Jesus Christ and the back is written “JESUS CHRIST KING of KINGS” in Latin. “IHSUS – XRISTUS – BASILEU – BASILE”
In the late Byzantine period some kings decided to remove their image of the coins and put Jesus the Pantokrator image. The reason for this was to promote Christianity.
